The Heart of The Hearts Dance

The heart of The HeARTs Dance Studio is its founder and dance teacher Mgr.art. Zuzana Banásová.

About me

I have been dancing for 30 years. I started learning my first dance steps, the technique of classical and jazz dance in my hometown in Kolárovo at an art school under the leadership of Kartai Adél, who had the greatest influence on my future direction when she handed me an application for the conservatory, thereby opening the door to dance world.

I am a graduate of the Conservatory in Nitra, where I learned modern dance, Slovak folk dances and character dances in addition to classical dance (ballet). Already at the conservatory they noticed my teaching skills, and I got the opportunity to teach children of different ages.

I continued my studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava – in pedagogy of a modern dance (techniques of jazz dance, José Limón and Martha Graham) and dance for children and youth (techniques of classical, folk and modern dance). Thanks to my studies at the Academy of Performing Arts, I had the opportunity to learn and gain new knowledge from distinguished foreign teachers for example Cyril Baldy, Christina Ghiardi, Joe Alegado, Joan van der Mast and gain new knowledge about this beautiful never-ending art…

...and discover Flamenco.

A dance that I was so enchanted with that I was actively involved in it for 5 years. I continued with the topic of Flamenco in the assignment of my Diploma Thesis.

I learnt Flamenco dance in Bratislava, Budapest and Seville from Mercedez Ruiz, Virginia Delgado, Lydia Valle, Lourdes Recio, Marco de Ana, Juan Polvillo, Libuša Bachratá, Zuzana Čorejová, Bucsás Györgyi “La Rubia”

Ballet

During my time at school, I regularly attended summer schools:

  • LABanov Atelier
  • Danceana
  • certified workshops (Feldenkreis Method under the guidance of Mgr. Miroslava Kovářová, ArtD.), accredited courses in Slovakia (Creative Approach to Teaching Modern/Contemporary Dance, LAB Atelier) and abroad (Flamenco course in Seville) and

in classical dance I have been trained by wonderful teachers such as Nora Gallovičová, Peter Dedinský, Martina Zubáková-Peregrini, Isabel Stehlíková, Lidija Pavlović.

I am also a certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor and currently teaching ballet and dance at the Anton Stadler Music School in Bruck an der Leitha.

Latin, Reggae, Samba

Apart from my studies at the university I had the opportunity to perform at the Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra and in commercial dance groups in Slovakia, such as Hip-Hop Fakulta, Flame Dance Company – Latin American dances, and reggeaton in Sangre Nueva.

In recent years, I have started to devote myself to aerial acrobatics, yoga and pilates in the form of individual lessons.

Milestone 2022

I have been continuously passing on my experience, passion and joy of dance for over 17 years. I taught at many elementary art schools, private schools, a ballet studio in Hainburg an der Donau and led dance ensembles with which I won many awards at international dance competitions in Slovakia and abroad.
But there are milestones in life when you have to rethink things and choose a different path. My milestone was 2022, for a second time broken leg and a warning from doctors that I might have to quit dancing. I left my job and wanted to take a longer break. But the girls whom I taught for more than 10 years, who stood behind me all the time, told me that they would go where I go…

One day in August, I called them “Hearts” because they had grown onto my heart.

And this is us, The HeARTs.
